Welcome! I’m Celeste, California girl, writer, psychotherapist and burgeoning plant-based foodie. I started this blog to blab about my plant-based diet and all things vegan. My purpose here is to share, connect and inspire.

You don’t have to be vegan to get something out of this blog. Whether you’re vegan, veg-curious, following a plant-based diet, need to lose weight, love animals, are concerned about your health or are just hungry – there’s something here for you!

You can expect to find…

  • Friendly posts about my experiences navigating a plant-based life
  • Easy vegan recipes
  • Information on the welfare of animals
  • Restaurant reviews
  • My thoughts on vegan friendly stuff
  • Health and nutrition info
  • Other random ramblings

You will not find…

  • Judgment! I certainly will never judge you for the way you choose to eat. I welcome everyone!

Check out Meet Celeste for more about me and my transition from chubby carnivore to lean, green vegan.

Thank you so much for stopping by and following my blog! I was excited to see that you’re a California girl as well! I was born in Newport Beach and raised in different parts of Orange County – I LOVE it there and have enjoyed visiting my Dad there over the years, as I now live in DC. I’ve had a great time looking through your blog. You have written some very informative posts and I am so excited to try out some of your wonderful recipes, especially your “no-tuna salad!”
I’m looking forward to following you and seeing everything you’re up to in CA 🙂

    • Hey Kristin! Thanks so much for your lovely comment and for following me. I’ve only been living in Orange County for a year and a half, but I love it here. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived in. I also like that it seems that the OC is becoming more vegan friendly. We’ve had several vegan restaurants open near us in the past few months. I love your blog too, and look forward to reading more of your posts!

    Hello Celeste!
Thanks for stopping by my blog & leave such nice comments! I am not a vegan but do cook, bake & eat vegan at least5x/wek & so does my husband! 🙂 I really love your blog too! Greetings from a foodie from Belgium!

    • Hey there Sophie! It’s awesome that you eat vegan 5-times a week – that’s pretty close to vegan girl! Your husband loves to cook – what a lucky chica you are. Cooking is sooo not my hubby’s thing. I’m not complaining – he’s certainly makes up for it in other ways. I’m so glad we’ve connected and I look forward to getting to know you better:)

  7. Sophie33 says:

    I meant 5x week!

Thank you Celeste for visiting my blog site and for following me. I don’t know how you found me but I am honored. I became vegan for health reasons. But after reading Kathy Freston’s book Veganist and watching Glass Walls by Sir Paul McCartney, I am now an ethical vegan. I enjoyed being in California. As a travel nurse, I was there for 3 months near Napa Valley. What a wonderful area.

    • Hi Line! Thanks so much for visiting my blog! Like you, I became vegan for health reasons. And like you, I later came on board with ethical reasons. What inspired me to become an ethical vegan was the movie, Vegucated. With my blog, I try to balance between sharing about each aspect of veganism. I love your blog! And yes, California is wonderful – I’m very happy here. I hope you stop by again!

    Hey Celeste,
I look forward to every new post you write. I really like your vw with the flower! Its so you. I’m toying with the idea of going plant based, or at least moving in that direction. Your blog and suggested links are helping me become better informed before I do anything drastic. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

    • Janelle!

How the heck are you girlfriend? I’m really touched by your kind words. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth putting all this time into my blog, but when I hear comments like that I remember why I’m doing this!

I’m excited that you’re considering going plant-based!! Obviously I wouldn’t be writing my blog if I wasn’t 100% sold on what I’m doing. But I hear you – it’s a drastic transition. When I first started, I only followed the diet Monday through Friday. It helped to know that I could eat whatever I wanted on the weekends. I know a lot of people try it out part-time, and I think it’s a great way start. It’s not so extreme that way. Just a thought.

If you make the decision to go plant-based, I’m happy to help in any way I can. Just ask. And you might want to watch “Forks Over Knives” or read “The Engine 2 Diet”. I found both to be helpful when I was first considering going plant-based.

And you know me so well – yes, the VW with the flower does fit me!

    • Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be posting more recipes in the future. I’ve been hesitant to post many recipes because my food photography skills are lacking. I’m working on getting better and will start posting all the yummy recipes I make on a daily basis soon!! Celeste 🙂

    • Thanks so much for the food photography link! I just checked it out and from the photos it looks like a wonderful article. I haven’t had the chance to read it yet but I will soon. By the way, it makes me feel better knowing that someone who has photography experience still struggles with food photography. I guess it’s a specialized skill. I’m so happy to have connected with you!! Celeste 🙂

  46. Hi Celeste, thank you for your nutritional infos concerning essential vitamins and plants. I hadn’t known before that vitamin B12 are obtained from dirt i.e. bacteria only. I suppose that explains the yeast extract spread, nutritional yeast flakes being full of the vitamin. Luckily I have a thing for yeast extract spread e.g. vegemite; really famous downunder! – Iz

    • I’ve never had vegemite, but my husband tasted once. He didn’t like it at all!! Maybe it’s an acquired taste. Celeste 🙂

      • Hahahaha. Yes, a lot of people aren’t very keen on the taste. Although in an Australian interview, Brad Pitt approved of it! He said it would make a good beer accompaniment. Marmite is a level above vegemite. Vegemite is more savoury; similar in taste to nutritional yeast flakes 🙂 You may have heard of nutritional yeast?

  47. http://authoritynutrition.com/5-brain-nutrients-in-meat-fish-eggs/ Here’s an article sure to peeve off vegans and veggies out there. This guy annoyed the heck out of me with his arguments about vegans lacking proper brain nutrients. Come on, there are plenty of people out there who’ve been vegans for twenty-odd years, last time I check, they don’t seem to have cauliflower for brains.

  48. Carolyn says:

I nominated you for the Sunshine Award! Check out my blog post for info. 🙂

  49. Thank you for following my blog! I so envy you – I’m such a picky eater that I couldn’t even be a vegetarian, let alone a vegan like you! But I do love the whole concept and, as an animal lover, I feel bad for not being able to live without poultry and fish (I don’t eat mammals, though), eggs and milk.

    • Honestly Erika, if you had told me two years ago that I’d go vegan I would have laughed. It’s not something that I ever thought I would or even could do. It’s much more yummy than I ever expected it to be. I don’t miss meat and dairy at all anymore – I LOVE eating vegan now. I know you probably don’t believe me (I wouldn’t have believed me either before I went vegan), but it’s just a matter of learning a new way of cooking. Thanks so much for reading – I appreciate it!! Celeste 🙂
