It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged, and to be honest I won’t be blogging much anymore. It was consuming too much time and taking away from other important things (like work!). That being said, I will post when the mood strikes.
I had to write today to tell you about the awesome vegan donuts I discovered in San Diego over the weekend. I read about Donut Panic on Yelp and was excited by their 4.5 rating and interesting vegan donut flavors like maple bacon.
So on Saturday my husband and I tried their Chocolate Bavarian Cream, Maple “Bacon” and the Earl Gray donuts. They were all really good, but my favorite was the Chocolate Bavarian Cream (my hubby’s pick was the Maple “Bacon”). They have lots of other vegan flavors that we plan to go back for. Please note that they only make vegan donuts on weekends and Wednesdays (I’m not sure if they make their vegan donuts all day on Wednesday or just at night for their game night).
My only disappointment was that they don’t make vegan maple bars, but since they had non vegan maple bars I bet they’d make me a vegan version if I asked.
Anywho, if you’re in San Diego you must check this place out!
PS – Mychael, Michele, Linda and my other San Diego readers – we’ll have to all meet here some time!

Yum!
You betcha girlfriend!
I was wondering where you went to. You have been missed.
Hey Ivonne! It’s nice to be missed chica. I’ll try not to go so long between blogging from now on. I just got a bit burnt out for a bit. Hope all is well. π
Glad you will still be posting from time to time. They look so yummy!! And that reminds me that I have a vegan maple bars recipe sitting ignored in my blog post drafts… =]
Ooh, I can’t wait to see your maple bar recipe chica. They are my ultimate favorite comfort food. It’s been a loooooong time since I’ve had one. Hugs!
Nice to see you pop into my browser. Sounds fabulous!
Thanks for your lovely comment chica – I appreciate it!
Hi Celeste π I don’t know ! You go away for ever, leaving me here tapping my fingers on your blog……waiting…….and you come rolling in with your pockets full of donuts ! π Welcome back my friend. Dohugs. Ralph xox β€
You’re the first person who has ever given me a dohug Ralphie – nice! π
LOL. Dohugs ! Maybe I will keep using that new Ralphie word when commenting on cooking blogs. See if it catches on. π
Hello Celeste π Is there anybody there ? Dohugs. Ralph xox β€
The world really is flat Ralphie. I know because I fell off of it – hehe. Seriously, I’m just not spending much time Online anymore. I do miss you and all my other blogging buddies. So here’s a BIG dohug! Celeste π
I completely understand about wanting to cut back on blogging. I’m glad you’re still sticking around I hope all is well! Oh, and these donuts look delicious β€
Thanks so much for your support chica! I’m just an obsessive person, and blogging became one of my obsessions. I hope I can do it more casually now – we’ll see. Hugs!
So happy to see your name come up on the ‘Blogs I Follow’ page. I see from other comments that your fan followers are delighted to see you, too. I knew that would happen!
I love the title – Donut Panic! And vegan donuts – how cool is that! I hope they come up with a vegan maple bar for you. It seems like a natural addition to their menu.
Our vegan journey has only just begun. I will keep you posted. You know I will. π – Mike
A vegan maple bar is my ultimate dream – I hope someday it’s realized! I suppose I could always make them myself, but… Anywho, I’m SO excited that you and Florence are going vegan. I’ll be here cheering you on! π
Yeah, even I (having not “blogged” in over a month) noticed your absence! I think “when the mood strikes” is good. Your posts are always thoughtful, so there should be no lack of content for you to share even once per week and/or month. However it is, I wish you the very best. Cheers, my dear Celeste. And thank you for what you do for the vegan community.
PS — Too bad I don’t live in San Diego. I would so TOTALLY meet you guys there for a donut.
I’m touched to be missed Shannon! Anywho, I bet you’ll find your way to SoCal one of these days and I’d be delighted to share a vegan donut (or two) with you chica. We’d, of course, have to share a healthy vegan meal too. Hugs! Celeste
Yummy and nice to have you back on the blogosphere!! π
Thanks for the thoughtful words chica – much appreciated! π
I had been wondering where you had disappeared to! I understand, I find the blogging world takes up a lot of my time too – particularly reading posts AND creating my own. I need to find a bit more balance, so I think I am going to allocate specific blog activity time so that I don’t get carried away.
Those donuts look scrumptious!
Balance was my problem with blogging. I’m an all-or-nothing person and my blog started to consume my life. I’m going to try to do it on a part time basis (we’ll see how that goes). Good luck to you with finding balance too. It’s so hard to do in modern life! Hugs!
Nice to see you posting Celeste! I definitely understand that blogging takes up a LOT of time! But I love it usually so keep ticking along π
Wowza, those donuts! I can’t imagine finding vegan donuts like that in the UK ever ,but we can wish!
What lovely thoughts chica! It is my hope that veganism will be so popular in the next few years that vegan donuts will be available everywhere. Hey – sometimes dreams do come true! Hugs!
Celeste, I too have been wondering where you went. I have missed you. Vegan donuts yum yum yum!!!! Take care my friend. Dawn
I understand about your absence from blogging. I will look forward to a little Blog here and them from you just to keep in touch. Be well. Honk Honk!
Thanks for all your lovely words! It’s nice to be missed. I’m gonna try to keep my blog going on a part time basis (we’ll see how that goes). I really do miss blogging and all the wonderful people I’ve connected with. Hugs!
Hey, lady! I’ve been wondering about you! I think all of us can relate to how much time/effort/thought blogging consumes. Finding a balance can be tough. Best to you and I look forward to whenever you post :-). xoxo
Hey Annie! Yea, I got a bit burnt out and had to reassess how I’m spending my time. I hope I can manage my blog as a part time thing – we’ll see how that goes. I do miss all the lovely people I’ve met through my blog.
I hope your cookbook is rolling along smoothly. Even if I fall off with my blog, please do let me know when your cookbook comes out.I absolutely want to purchase one! π
Hey, there, Celeste! Glad to see you back. Those donuts are tasty. I think San Diego may be becoming the vegan donut capital of the world. Did you realize there was a San Diego Vegans Meetup from 11-2 at Donut Panic last Saturday? I just about made it, but didn’t. Would have made a better effort had I known you were going to be there. Next time, let me know before you come down and we’ll meet up. Would love to meet you and your husband. Cheers!
I didn’t know there was a vegan meetup there until after I arrived. My husband and I met a guy who was there for the meetup but no one else showed before we left. That would have been so cool if you just happened to be there at the same time I was there. I guess we’ll just have to make that happen one of these days! I’m curious, do you know of another place to get vegan donuts in San Diego? Hugs! π
I believe both Blind Lady Ale House and Tiger Tiger normally have vegan donuts. Also, the folks who run those two just opened a place in the Prado area near the Museum of Art in Balboa Park, and they have those donuts. Also, Moncai Vegan on University in North Park always has vegan donuts, and the most incredible Cinnamon Rolls ever. Maybe I should have said North Park is the Vegan Donut Capital! I’m probably missing some, and if I am, I’d like to know. Have a nice evening, Celeste!
Oh wow – thanks for the suggestions! I haven’t been to the Blind Lady Ale House or to Tiger Tiger and I’m so grateful to know they have vegan donuts and other vegan options. I just added both to my list of places to try. I have been to Moncai Vegan but I haven’t tried their cinnamon rolls, but I will!
I also just learned that Donut Bar in Downtown San Diego has vegan donuts. I discovered this from a Yelp review, but when I checked out their menu online I didn’t see mention of anything vegan. I contacted the shop and was told that they do have vegan donuts. Still, I have no idea about the variety of vegan donuts they carry so I’ll just have to go there one day and find out.
By the way, my husband and I are considering moving to San Diego. We’re just thinking about it at the moment and will wait until Spring to make our decision. If we do move there, we’re thinking about Oceanside. I’ll keep you posted! π
Great, Celeste! I hope you and your husband move down here!
Decide after I come in March.
I got a vegan pizza, salad, and beverage at the Blind Lady Ale House with a gift card that I won online. That’s what my blog’s about: vegantownusa.wordpress.com
I commit myself to blog posting once a month and that’s hard work! I need to score some vegan donuts too. That’s my next challenge! Need gift cards and coupons! San Diego County is not affordable for people like me. I may have to move to another part of the nation.
Hey Jeanne! If we move, it won’t be until next Spring. And we’re just considering it. We really do love Orange County and we’re not sure that we want to leave this little slice of paradise. BTW – I’m SO excited that you’re coming out again. Is Bill coming too?
Glad you’re back even if only intermittently! Thanks for all of the mouth-watering healthy treats you share with us
I wish these donuts were healthy. Oh well, you gotta splurge once in awhile. π
Celeste,
The funny thing is, you are back, luring us with donuts and now you are responding to our posts. I understand about taking a break; I decided to do the same thing earlier this summer. But you remain on my list, so when the mood strikes, I will read. Enjoy the summer. Ramona
Lovely Ramona! I’ll try not to be too much of a stranger. Hugs!
I haven’t been blogging much myself recently, but I’m glad that I caught a post by you. I hope that you are well and I look forward to reading your future posts when you’re around π
Hey Jenny! It’s hard to balance blogging and life, but we’re doing the best we can. Hugs chica! π
I know what you mean, I have 5 blogs, 5 twitter accounts, 2 Facebook accounts and numerous email accounts! I need a daily to do list to remember them all! Oh, and a full time job lol Take care xx
They look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good! π
Hi Celeste,
Welcome back. I look forward to hearing from you on your website from time to time. Great post BTW. I have been busy. I launched a new website at the end of June and welcome you to take a look when you have a moment. Many thanks, Anne
Celeste, I came by today because I’ve missed you and wondered what’s up. I thought that lack of interaction has been from my taking it slow on the blogosphere this summerβ¦I’ve been really enjoying it with my son and fam, and haven’t been sitting behind the computer screen much. I can totally relate in that it takes up a lot of time, and I felt like I was spreading myself thin in many areas of life, so I decided I am not posting as much either. Anyway, after a couple of weeks of no posts, I just posted a vegan Green Tea Donut recipe yesterday! π What a coincidence that you came back to talk about donuts, haha! Do check them out, I think you will love them!!
Good luck with everything, and definitely keep in touch. xx
I had to make a pot of coffee to read your story. Love donuts and coffee. Glad to see you posting again. Wish I was closer to San Diego since finding good Vegan foods is not so easy here in Olympia. I’m still on the hunt however but I think I’ll be doing a lot of my own cooking. Can’t wait to get our own Vitamix!! Hugs to Paul.
Hey there Florence! Sorry to hear that it’s hard to find good vegan food in your area. I’m surprised – I thought the state of Washington was a vegan mecca, but maybe that’s just Seattle. Anyway, a Vitamix will help you out a lot with the cooking. Other than the lack of vegan restaurants, I hope you like your new home. Hugs and Mambo kisses! π
I’m completely with you on the all or nothing. I just had a week off from blogging and didn’t even check any comments etc. (but only because I was camping by the beach!).
It’s a very big commitment and I need to work out the balance bit too. The last 10 months have been intense but incredibly fulfillingβ¦ I’ve still got to work for a living and care for my family too though!
Keep well and I’m looking forward to catching up on your news every now and then. x
Great to read about your donut adventures Celeste! I hope you find a vegan maple bar some time soon!!!
Great to hear from you Poppy! I think about you often, but I rarely go Online anymore. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods chica. π
I’ve missed you Celeste, but I totally understand. Blogging is very time consuming and I can’t imagine keeping up with all the comments because you had so many and always answered each one and were kind to comment on ours too.
We here in Canada are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, take a look at the “turkey” I’m making! π
http://fashionableover50.wordpress.com/2014/10/09/thanksgiving-a-time-to-dance/
Thinking of you and hope you are keeping well chica! π
β€ carmen
So nice to hear from you Carmen! Happy Thanksgiving chica. Your turkey is wonderful and no animals were hurt in the making of it (I just may have to copy you for my Thanksgiving meal). I do miss blogging and all my lovely blogger friends like you, but I don’t think I’ll be going back to it. Then again, who knows. I hope all is well, and please tell Jean that I said, “Howdy!” Hugs, Celeste π
This is one of my major weaknesses! I am so glad you have included the vegetarian version here, so there is still Hope of finding a good recipe and place that may feature this on their menu!! I like the sound of the Bavarian Cream and the Maple Bacon, but would take any healthy donut and nibble slowly, savoring it, like the exotic and rare treat it is!
Oh, Celeste, I really wish you’d come back. My WP Reader is just not the same without you in it. I hope you’re well. Cheers from here! — Shannon
Reblogged this on My Vegan Heart Blog.
I had to hunt you down from wordpress because I missed your blog. I thought of you recently because I became full vegan, no oil, like I remembered you were. I wanted to check out some recipes. I hope you’re well!!!
