Top 10 Vegan Halloween Treats

My late October birthday made Halloween my favorite holiday when I was a kid. I’d have a costume party the weekend before Halloween, go trick-or-treating on the 31st and then gorge on goodies for weeks. It was a chubby girl’s dream!

The holiday isn’t as exciting these days. In fact, while walking past the Halloween isle at Target yesterday my husband gave me a look. He knew that signs of the holiday sometimes make me depressed because they remind me that my birthday is near.

Interestingly, the costumes, ghosts and candy didn’t bother me this year. Have I finally come to terms with aging? Not completely, but at least enough to enjoy the Halloween festivities.

And enjoy, I will! Just look at all the spooktacular vegan goodies I found!

The banana mummies and rice krispy ghosts are cute. 🙂
I’d love a piece of the apple caramel pull-apart. Yum!
Thanks Celeste. What a fun read!
I’m glad to hear that you aren’t feeling down about your birthday this year. Another year means another year of loving and being loved- and that’s worth celebrating.

  2. I love the rice crispy ghosts! So cute!

  3. Sophie33 says:

I am not att all into Halloween at all. It is not that big in Belgium! But I am surely going to taste & make all of these tasty treats, Halloween or not! 😉 MMMMMMMM! x

    • Ally says:

Halloween isn’t big in Australia either. We never ‘trick-or-treated’ when I was a child.

In the last few years, its popularity has increased. We don’t prepare for ‘trick-or-treaters’, and if anyone knocks on our door they are usually sorely disappointed! One year we handed out cherry tomatoes when some kids knocked on our door. 🙂

      • Sophie33 says:

        hahahahahha! 🙂 x

      • You’d be in trouble if you handed out cherry tomatoes here Ally! One year some kids got mad that I only gave them one piece of candy each (I was running out), that they pulled out all the flowers in my front yard! Kids will also throw eggs at houses and smash pumpkins. Most kids obviously won’t do these things, but still. Celeste 🙂

    • Oh Sophie, you’re missing out with the Halloween festivities girlfriend! Costume parties are so fun. Of course, I’ve grown up with it and it’s not the norm for you so I get it. I hope you do try some of these goodies, however. Cheers! Celeste 🙂

  4. These are just fantastic! 🙂

  5. Poppy says:

Wow, what a selection! Thank you so much for including one of my recipes in there! 😀

    • Poppy says:

P.S I’m glad to hear you can enjoy this time of year more now. Instead of seeing your birthday as another year older, see it as a celebration of another year with all that you love around you. 😀

      • Aww – thanks Poppy! And I’ll be making your krispy bars soon! I just hope I don’t pig out on them too much – ha! Celeste 🙂

      • Poppy says:

I hope you love them! I haven’t made them in ages so have them on my list to make again soon! They’re so rich you probably won’t feel the need to pig out too much (coming from me you can trust that!!) 😀

  6. I want them all! I can’t believe that candy corn (not a favorite as a kid, but I’d give these a go)! So creative.

  7. Thanks for sharing the ideas ! I will be making the rice crispie ghosts for the class party 🙂

  8. roytanusree says:

The all Vegan Halloween Treats are so creative and funny!
I’m glad to hear that you are so excited about your birthday..Wish your birthday will full of happiness and love.

  9. I can’t wait for Vegan Halloween – I wonder if the locals in Buenos Aires celebrate Halloween, will it be a big holiday or not? I can’t believe your birthday is also a Halloween holiday 😉 Among your Top 10 Vegan Halloween Treats, I would love to try the Vegan Butterfingers, Vegan Lemon Candy Corn and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Krispy Bars, and of course the Dia De Los Muertos Cookies (look amazing!)

  10. veganatomy says:

Yum! I reeeally want to make those sugar skull cookies…but I have a feeling mine won’t come out looking anything like that lol. THanks for the inspiration!

    • Aren’t those great! I bet they’d turn out better than you think, but they do look like a lot of work. I’m lazy when it comes to cookies. I figure they’re just gonna get eaten anyway. Celeste 🙂

  11. Lorrie Wenzler says:

I think that I’ll try the Rice Krispy Ghosts.

  12. Thank you so much for the fun list of goodies and links on where to find the recipes! I’m going to make some of these for sure as Halloween approaches! Thank you for sharing about feeling bummed out about Halloween–I too have that–I walk by candy corn and the taste was so good as a kid, the memory is enough almost, to make me feel like I’m tasting it again. But then, I can’t/shouldn’t buy it, I know it isn’t good for me….Well, heck, now I can make my own, thanks to you! 🙂

    • Thank you for your lovely comment Jessica! There’s no reason we can’t still enjoy Halloween girlfriend! A little indulgence, as long as it’s not an everyday thing, is perfectly fine in my book!! Celeste 🙂

  13. Yum yum yum – it all looks SO delicious 🙂 Thank you for that great list of yunniness!!

  14. carmen says:

So you have a birthday coming up soon?! That’s good, Celeste, because studies show that the more birthdays you have, the longer you live! 😉

I’m posting my lavender post tomorrow but I would like to save your pictures (with your lavender skirt) for a special post on your birthday. I would like to include a little about you and your vegan life-style and add a link to your blog.

    ❤ carmen

    • Haha Carmen, you’re a kick! Your comment made me laugh out loud girlfriend!! I hope you and I both have many more birthday’s!!

I’ll check out your lavender post tomorrow, and I’m touched that you are going to do a birthday post for me. You’re such a sweetheart! Because I want to keep certain things private about myself so that my identity can’t get stolen, I don’t share my actual birthdate on social media. So you can either say my birthday is at the end of October or state that it’s the 30ith or 31st (neither is my birthday). Thanks for understanding!

      Celeste 🙂

      • carmen says:

I understand the privacy thing. I’ll just say October and post it towards the end of the month.

I can’t take credit for the little joke about birthdays–I heard it once and it made me laugh too! I don’t like getting older but it sure beats dying young. 🙂
