This Grill Runs Cold

A year and a half ago I went to a class at Whole Foods Market and heard Gerrie tell her heart-felt story of being ill almost to the point of death and then curing herself through a plant-based diet. I was so moved by her account that over the next few months I made the transition myself.
I’ve never forgotten that it was a story that moved me to change my life. And since one of the reasons I started this blog was to inspire others to consider a plant-based diet and/or a vegan lifestyle (which is more than a diet and involves living in a way that avoids using or consuming anything that harms or exploits animals), I want to share stories here. I want to inspire others in the same way I was inspired.
Yesterday I shared Dave’s touching tale, and today I have Ryan’s amazing weight loss story to share.
I discovered Ryan’s story accidentally. I stumbled upon his blog that shows his lovely artwork and I ‘liked’ some of his art. The next day he made a thoughtful comment on my blog and casually mentioned that he went vegan 3 years ago and has since lost 95 pounds.
Losing 95 pounds is like losing a whole person! I was impressed and asked Ryan if he would be willing to share his story on my blog. He readily agreed and quickly penned a narrative. He decided to post it on his blog, so I’m simply reblogging it.
I’d love to share your inspirational ‘gone vegan’ story too! Send me a note on this post and we’ll talk about it.

    • Thanks for your comment Carmen – I always appreciate hearing from you! I agree, Ryan’s story is very inspirational. I hope he inspires some non-vegans to go vegan. I’m sure he will! Celeste 🙂

  3. I enjoyed this story and loved his line in the comments about considering people who live this lifestyle friends by default. Imagine a world in which everyone chooses to live in a way that honors their bodies, other beings, and the earth, and where we consider each other friends by default. Hardly a life of deprivation. 🙂
